The Hillcrest Comets Boys Soccer team tied with long time rivals St. Cloud Cathedral on Thursday at HLA by the score of 1-1.

The Comets scored first, seventeen minutes into the game.  Tae Gyu Park took a short drop back pass from Morten Reksten and scored putting the Comets up by one.  Cathedral answered with a goal, two minutes before the end of the half off a drive up the middle.  Cathedral came out strong in the second half launching several shots on goal, defended by Comet keeper, Taylor Isaac.  Regulation ended with the score tied at one apiece.  Two five minute OT halves saw both teams with chances to score.

“It was a good game for the Comets,” said head coach Rod Jensen.  “Our boys got to play one of the best teams in the section and realize that they can compete with the best.  We saw excellent efforts from striker, Knut Saebo, Midfielder Andreas Skjelde, and defenders Josh Wolderich and Luis Martinez.

The Comets face Minnewaska Area Saturday in a double header with the girls teams playing also at HLA.
