For the second time in as many weeks the Hillcrest football team found themselves with an opportunity to pull out a victory in the final minutes of the game.  Where they were able to accomplish that in their season opener at Ortonville last week, they were unable to rally for the win in their home opener Friday night, falling to the Eagle Valley Rebels 20-14.

The Rebels scored with 3:50 left in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead when Tyler Oftedahl connected with Tate Benning on a 29 yard pass.  Thirteen seconds into the second quarter Jerrod Nelson hauled in a 21 yard scoring toss from Oftedahl and the Rebels added the two-point conversion run to take a 14-0 lead.

Hillcrest scored on a Gene Twedt to Theo Taylor touchdown pass with 6:48 to play in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 14-6, however, the Rebels responded with a seven yard TD run by Derek Meyer just over two minutes later to extend their lead to 20-6.  Mark Undseth's one yard...
