The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy/Pelican Rapids Boys Soccer team was defeated by the Bemidji Lumberjacks Thursday on a wet, soaked field in Bemidji, by the score of 2 – 1.

Bemidji scored first, fifteen minutes into the game when midfielder Isak Somnerscored on a blast off a cross from the right side.  The Comets quickly tied the game two minutes later when Byron Varner scored attacking up the left side off a pass from Jose Stender.  The half ended in a one-one tie.  Both teams battled hard and had scoring chances in the second half.   Midway through the half, the Comets were called for a handball in the box, allowing a penalty kick.  Kyle Fodness, converted the opportunity into a goal for the Lumberjacks.

The Comets, now 5-3, have a rematch against Minnewaska Area at home on Thursday.
