Two first half goals by the Minnewaska Area Lakers was enough to shut out the Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Boys Soccer Team Tuesday in Glenwood.

The Comets launched 18 shots on the Minnewaska net during the contest, but all were turned away by the sophomore keeper, Ethan Anderson.  The Lakers had just four shots on the Comet net, but capitalized on two of them.  A corner kick header six minutes into the contest, by an unidentified player, and a goal by Laker captain,Roberto Gameiro, halfway into the first half, capped all scoring for the contest.

“Unfortunately, the Comets did not show up to play this evening,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Rod Jensen.  “The Lakers did, and played a good ball game.  I will have to blame the coaching staff on this loss.  A lack of team preparation and focus from the Comets was evident this evening.  This provides an opportunity for us to learn, grow, and improve as a team this season.”

The Comets, now 2-2, travel to Crookston on Thursday.

“Congratulations to the Lady Comets on their victory against the Laker Ladies prior to the boy’s matchup!” added Jensen.
