The Lady Comets have a tendency to make the base path seem small. Quick feet and heads-up plays turn routine base hits into doubles and lead to runs for the Lady Comets. Their attention on the bases scored 8 runs in overwhelming Ashby Friday, improving their record to 4-1 on the season.

Junior hurler Nicole DeKok is quickly making a name for herself within the circle. Lights-out pitching is providing the Comets incredible opportunities to post big numbers on offense. DeKok struck out 8 in earning her 4th victory Friday. She put together two hits on the night, helping her cause from home plate.

Megan Aasness and Annie Murphy joined DeKok in posting two hits on the day. Murphy cranked out 2 doubles for hers. The tandem batters circled the bases twice, putting in 4 of the Comets 8 runs with their quick feet. Junior Sophie Iverson also joined Murphy and Aasness in high fives behind the plate with two runs of her own.

Behind Dekok the Comets pulled out a blanket defense. No errors were made off hit balls, showing a steady improvement for the Lady Comets in their fielding.

The Lady Comets are looking forward to a busy week, with 4 games over 5 days. Tuesday and Thursday are tune-ups versus Ortonville and Ashby. The girls have their eyes set to Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Friday, where their double header could well decide their road in the first few games in playoffs.
