History of HLA Capital Campaigns
In 1995, the "Because We
Believe" campaign was launched, promoting a major renovation
project of Hillcrest Lutheran Academy. This campaign
received the necessary funds to renovate the Hillcrest
building, as well as a portion of funds earmarked for a new
gymnasium. The campaign ended in 2000, following the
startup of the renovation work. The renovation
included installing a new elevator, and bringing the
building up to required safety codes. Areas around the
elevator on each floor were improved, and new stairwells
were constructed. This was a necessary step before any
other new construction could take place on the campus.
In 2002,
Hillcrest launched the "Building for Tomorrow" Capital
Campaign. The focus of this campaign was to fund the
construction of a new Student Activities Center. In
July of 2004, construction began.
Spring 2005 BFT Closer Banquet
On Saturday evening, May 7th, a closer
banquet was held in the new Student Activities Center. Music was provided by the HLA
student groups. Over 220 guests attended. The program featured multi-media
presentations of the financial picture of the
project, construction snapshots, and the overall mission of
the school. An appeal was made to purchase a
seat in the "Save Me a Seat" project, and to purchase the
candlesticks made from balusters of the stairwells of the
"old castle" that were demolished in 1999.
Current Appeals
A few projects in the Student Activities Center are yet
to be funded. These include: 1) the second set of
bleachers; 2) lockers for locker rooms; 3) elevator;
4) millwork; 5) resilient flooring; and 6) landscaping.
As funds are received, these items will be purchased and
installed.
The "Save Me a Seat" project is currently active, with
almost 60% of the seats sold. This project will fund
the second set of bleachers as seats are sold.
