Mr. Jahr has led a life of international adventures, growing up in places such as Sicily, Italy, and Iceland before arriving in America. He has a B.A. in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University, an M. Div. from Lutheran Brethren Seminary, and an M.S. in Education from the College of St. Scholastica. Prior to teaching at Hillcrest, Mr. Jahr served as the Executive Director for Church of the Lutheran Brethren’s mission to North America. He also served as the pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Brethren Church in Fergus Falls.
At Hillcrest, Armin teaches physics, robotics, and pre-engineering, coaches the local BEST Robotics team, serves as an assistant coach for the Nordic Ski team, and works as a Resident Life Assistant and bus driver. He teaches Sunday School classes at his church and serves as pulpit supply for area congregations.
As a teacher, Armin's greatest desire for the students is that they will know Christ, have a college-preparatory conceptual and methodological understanding of the STEM fields.
“I want to see students engage in thoughtful and meaningful dialogue concerning faith and science, God as our Creator and Redeemer, and science as it seeks to understand the material universe in the larger context of Biblical creation. It is my prayer that students will be inspired to pursue STEM careers as an expression of worship to God and blessing to our world,” says Mr. Jahr.
Mr. Jahr is married to his wonderful wife, Cheryl, and they have two sons and a daughter, all of whom graduated from HLA. During the summers, Armin enjoys working on canoes and mechanical projects, building and helping out with church activities, and traveling with his family.
