The Comets ended their regular season Saturday by defeating the East Grand Forks Green Wave by a score of 2-1, clinching the Lakes to Prarie Conference Title, and likely finishing with a number one ranking in Section 8A North.

The Comets scored thirty minutes into the first half, when Knut Saebo took a beautiful pass from Yung Hak Jang, sliced up the middle and beat the Green Wave Keeper to the lower left corner of the net.  The Comets had several other opportunities in the half but were unable to finish.  Comet Senior Captian, Seong Won Choi, scored on a PK, four minutes into the second half, putting the Comets up by two.  Midway through the half, after being awarded a free kick in the middle of the field, the Green Wave took a quick kick up the middle, catching the Comets on their heels and scored.  The Green Wave applied pressure the remainder of the game, but were unable to thwart the Comet defense.  We had excellent defensive efforts from Luis Martinez, Senior Captain Hector Lemus, Yung Hak Jang, JD Antonsen, and Jose Stender.

The Comets launched 21 shots on net.  Comet Keeper Taylor Isaac turned away six shots, including a diving sprawl save in the second half to preserve the lead.

Hillcrest, 12-2-1, awaits final seeding to determine their section play schedule.
