By Steve Undseth - Hancock, MN

Brendon Foss silenced the Comet bats, twirling a one-hitter and striking out 9 in a complete game victory for the Hancock Owls, 7-1. Joe Ommundsen's single in the first inning was the only hit Hillcrest could muster.

Hancock broke open a close game in the fifth inning with 5 runs after two men were out. Clifford Vestol took the loss on the mound for the Comets. Brendon Foss, Drew Schmidgall, Bryan Shaw, and Dylan Reese each had two singles to lead Hancock.

The Comets avoided a shutout in the sixth inning when Mark Undseth reached on a fielder's choice after David Asche's walk. He stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a wild pitch.

"Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team's pitcher. Foss kept us off-balance all day, and we never got anything going offensively. We hope for more success next time," said Coach Steve Undseth after the game.

The Comets drop to 5-4 on the season. Their next action is in Wheaton at 3:00pm on Wednesday, May 19.
