The Hillcrest football team traveled to Verndale on Friday night and survived a penalty filled game by posting a 27-14 win over the Pirates.  The Comets were penalized fifteen times for 130 yards and the Pirates were guilty of fourteen infractions for 115 yards.

Hillcrest struck first on a 25 yard touchdown run by Theo Taylor less than two minutes into the game.  Verndale pulled even when Andy Bounds took the ball in from six yards out with 5:29 remaining in the opening quarter.
