President Brad Hoganson joined Hillcrest in the summer of 2017 but is no stranger to the school. He graduated from Hillcrest in 1984 and worked in the boys dorm for a number of years in the 80's and 90's while he was a student at the Lutheran Brethren Bible School.
An ordained pastor in the Church of the Lutheran Brethren, President Hoganson served churches in Washington State and New Jersey for 22 years before being called to serve as President of Hillcrest Academy.
Brad loves people and building friendships. He loves to stop in the classroom or sit down with students in the Student Union just to ask how they are doing. Few things bring him as much joy as the opportunity to share the Gospel. His desire for the the students who attend Hillcrest is that they would be called and equipped to tell the Good News of Jesus Christ in whatever vocation God directs them. A favorite verse in his life is Romans 10:13-17
For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Brad and his wife Traci enjoy good coffee, antique shops, flea markets, DIY projects and spending time with family and friends. Brad loves to explore used bookstores and is always looking for the next great find. Their son Camden is a junior at Hillcrest and their daughter Shea is a sophomore at Kean University in New Jersey .
