The reality, of course, is that we are becoming more and more marginal to the big issues of society with each passing day, and the primary reason this is so is because we have been practicing abstinence. I don't mean sexual abstinence, of course. A glance at your church's nursery on Sunday will demonstrate that we seem to be doing fine in that department. Rather, What we have abstained from over the past generation is speaking the truth of God into every area of life with passion, consistency, and lived credibilty. ~T.M. Moore~
The video-link above will take you to The Principal's Desk blog in the Hillcrest website. This week Mr. Isaac's class read the above article by T.M. Moore, a pastor and administrator with the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview. The class discussed Mr. Moore's idea of Christians abstaining from discussing and living-out a Biblical perspective of relevant issues with their neighbors.
We encourage you to read the article, view the video and read the post. You will once again be brought into an intimate classroom setting where you'll be able to understand how the Biblical perspective is being reinforced within our classrooms.
Homecoming: Outta This World
Homecoming is a busy time around HLA. Not only do we have activities for parents and current students, but students from Norway, Korea and throughout the United States make the venture to their home away from home. Many former students will revisit classes, teachers and friends as they recognize another school year dedicated to preparing students to represent Christ in the public sphere.
We'd like to invite you to participate in as many activities as you can handle. Take note of the class-competitions, athletic contests and the tailgating parties before the weekend games. It should be a great time as students celebrate the theme "Outta this World" in their pep-fest skits and dress-up days throughout spirit week.
Please take note of the Dominican Mission fundraiser for the Santa Fe school on Saturday, October 1st
Schedule for the week: * Denotes activity will be live-streamed on the HLA website

Hey Mom, I'm Safe and Smiling!
The Hillcrest Technical staff has taken a number of steps to keep you connected with the social and academic life your students are receiving at Hillcrest. One of the ongoing tasks they've taken is a weekly video update. These videos are updated on Hillcrest Academy's website and Facebook page.
Requests have rolled in from alumni requesting an archive for these videos as they look back on their time at Hillcrest. We have taken steps to create a rolling video-blog for students and parents to interact with. You can see the video-blog here. The blog will be updated with weekly videos, giving you an inside-look into the the social and spiritual development your students are receiving as they participate in dormitory activities with their dorm mentors and close Christian friends.
Any questions or concerns regarding parent communication should be directed to Wayne Stender at email@example.com.
