"At Hillcrest it's almost like we talk more about the Bible in our regular classes and about our regular classes in Bible class." This was a message relayed last week by one of the 4 worldview instructors at Hillcrest Academy. Sit in on any class at Hillcrest and you'll hear why the student was led to this thought pattern.
In this week's Principal's Desk, we are led to consider the significance of devotional time in the structure of the classroom time students engage in at Hillcrest. We invite you to read a brief throught and watch Mr. Jahr's exposition HERE>>
Parent and Ministry Event
Inspiration Point Bible Camp is an organization that is close to the faculty and staff at Hillcrest Academy. Many students participate in their summer and winter camps offered to students. Their family ministry and retreat services are second to none as they seek to be a support to the local church. This year, they are continuing that support in offering IPoint Equips.
Last September over 200 youth workers, teachers and parents gathered at The Point for IPoint Equips with Dr. Walt Mueller. This year they are excited to welcome Duffy Robins as the guest speaker on September 27-28 for IPoint Equips 2013. We highly encourage pastors, youth workers, teacher and those who invest in the lives of young people to attend this training event that is valuable youth culture training to equip for ministry to students and people of all ages.
Duffy Robbins, Professor of Youth Ministry at Eastern University, St. Davids, Pennsylvania, is a thirty-six year veteran of youth ministry. Duffy speaks around the world to teenagers and people who care about teenagers. Duffy has his D.Min. in Youth and Family Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary, and he’s the author of numerous books including Ministry of Nurture , This Way to Youth Ministry: An Introduction to the Adventure, Speaking to Teenagers (co-authored with Doug Fields), Youth Ministry Nuts and Bolts, Enjoy the Silence (co-authored with the lovely Maggie Robbins) and his latest book Building a Youth Ministry That Disciples.

Daily Bulletin Online
In working to accomplish many goals in communicating events and encouraging family participation at Hillcret Academy we have set out to communicate our Daily Bulletin.
The Daily Bulletin communicates most activities and essential details for students at Hillcrest. Families may now view the bulletin online which is posted at approximately 12pm CDT every school day.
A team of students are receiving mentor training in the area of photo and media development through the Marketing office at Hillcrest Academy. The group of students are responsible for daily posting to Facebook and Twitter while also compiling student videos that seek to communicate life at Hillcrest Academy to friends and family across the world. A new initiative they have undertaken is a weekly update with their current videos. We encourage you to check out their 10 minute roundup for the halls of Hillcrest HERE>>
As the school year starts, many families begin thinking about the opportunity for high school students to take college classes. In this weeks College Corner we introduce an alternative to traditional college classes through the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP). CLEP offers the opportunity for students to receive college credit for what they already know. Students are able to earn qualifying scores on up to 33 introductory-level college subject examinations and accelerate their education.
Exams run 90-minutes and cost only $80 each. Administered at 1,700 test centers, exams can earn students college credit which is accepted at 2,900 colleges and universities. CLEP offers exams covering material taught in courses that is generally taught in the first two years of college. Most CLEP exams are designed to correspond to one-semester courses, although some correspond to full-year or two-year courses.
For more information regarding CLEP exams, visit the CLEP website here>>. Hillcrest has provided assistance for students to complete the exam. If you would like more information or to request assistance for your student to study for and take a CLEP exam, please contact Ruth Juliot via email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
