Dear Parents,

We are updating our communication to you this year in an effort to better organize and provide more meaningful information in our weekly Principal's Update. Each week you will receive an email that will include an a short note from me about upcoming events and important information, an article that is something I've been thinking about, a school calendar snapshot, a set of activities that you should take notice of, a story from Hillcrest's past, and a student testimony from our hallways.

That said, there are a few things you should note as we look forward to you arriving on campus the weekend of August 12.

We are currently finalizing the design of our school theme. In next week's update I will unveil the theme to you and communicate some parent prayer times that will occur over the summer.

You'll notice that Mrs. Amy Twedt is in the office through the summer during business hours. There are a few times she will be required to tend to other things and may be out of the office. If you would like to stop by or contact her to talk through schedules and paperwork, please email her at atwedt@ffhillcrest.org. Amy is processing all of the paperwork associated with our new and returning students. There are a lot of forms she is working through, with us privileged to have students from over 7 countries and 40 different schools transferring in at this point. Mrs. Twedt will contact you through the upcoming months to secure students' schedules and communicate meaningful information relating to student orientation and the start of school.

Wayne Stender is traveling around the country this summer to meet with new and prospective students. He will be on the West Coast June 23-July 5 and the East Coast July 15-23, before going to Colorado for our National Youth Convention July 26-30. If you know of any students who are considering Hillcrest, please pass their names to Wayne (wstender@ffhillcrest.org) as he looks to connect with new and prospective families this summer.

To close, we are in the process of finalizing a few staff positions this year. We are working through applications for our band director position and an executive secretary, who will work with our Advancement Executives, Todd Mathison and new President Brad Hoganson.

We are honored that you have selected Hillcrest to train your student in an understanding of the world from God's perspective. Your student will grow in knowledge, but our desire is that the gain wisdom in our classes as they are armed with evidences of God's existence and come to know the character of God through Bible classes and our integration of faith into every academic discipline.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns as we look forward to the new year. I am in a number of meetings in the coming weeks, planning events for the fall and helping structure the installation of our new President at homecoming. Email is the best way to reach me, and please email me at jisaac@ffhillcrest.org. I look forward to hearing from you.

In God's stead,

Principal Jeff Isaac

The Opening Picnic is an incredible experience for families. A picnic dinner is served for Hillcrest families at 5PM on the Front Lawn, followed by a parent meeting while the students spend time with Resident Life Staff in get-to-know-you games. There is a fair amount of paperwork necessary to register students for Hillcrest. Mrs. Amy Twedt, Hillcrest's registrar, is processing all paperwork this year, using DocuSign as an online signature solution for families needing to complete forms. If you have any questions related to paperwork, enrollment, and registering for classes, please email Amy at atwedt@ffhillcrest.org

"Nones" are the fastest growing religious group. It's a group of people who unify to say they don't believe anything. They associate with no faith system. Many in the group sat in pews of churches before picking up the banner reading "no religious affiliation". So, what keeps students from ditching their faith? We believe a lack of intentional training and mentorship could be a reason, a lack of community that builds a cohesive Christian perspective. We think the uniqueness of a Christian boarding school can help students build a life-long faith for many reasons, but here are 3 that we think are unique in the Hillcrest experience.
