This week we celebrated. He held our first open house as Hillcrest Academy and were blessed by the number of many families who attended. We also celebrated a set of impressive showings from our academic performances and the progress of students in our art department. God is doing some notable things at Hillcrest.
Below you’ll read about our open house and the impact Hillcrest is making on students. Principal Isaac gives a basic overview of the Hillcrest program, but the part that got me was the testimony of one of the students helping lead the tours that spoke to the difference of a Hillcrest classroom in building students’ minds to consider the eternal nature of education.
You will also find a few stories about our academic progress. Our math team and art students had big competitions this week. I am so excited to see how our students fare when they compete in these academic contests with students outside our walls. God is doing great things in the hearts of our students, but I am very encouraged this week as I read about what He is developing in their minds. I hope you’re able to gain a perspective that students are really developing their intellect here.
In closing I want to communicate a new endeavor to help you stay in touch with Hillcrest. Twice every week we are releasing a Podcast that you can subscribe to through your favorite podcast app on your phone. We will publish the podcast shows to our SoundCloud account and attach links here every week. The shows include student testimonies, interviews with staff, and perspectives of Hillcrest from recent alumni. The two shows this week included interviews with alumni Daniel Preston and Victoria Synstelien. I have loved getting to know our recent alumni, seeing the impact Hillcrest has made on them as they are equipped to evangelize on their college campuses while they are gaining training to engage their world in various vocations.
We are releasing our choir tour itinerary next week and will host some alumni gatherings in Minneapolis, East Hartland, Connecticut and Succasunna, New Jersey. I hope you can make it to one of our concerts and hopefully attend one of our alumni and friends gatherings to share a meal with us, receive an update, and hobnob with students before the concert. We would love to see you there.
Reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a special meeting with me when I’m in your area or when you come back to your school.

Parents and Prospective Families Pack Out HLA at Open House
On Tuesday night Principal Jeff Isaac gave a ten minute overview of the Hillcrest program using the school's recently updated School Profile. In his opening, Principal Isaac referred to an academic survey that shows students who engage in the Bible four times or more per week have a natural decrease in the likelihood of participating in premarital sex, pornography, smoking, getting drunk, and having suicidal and destructive thoughts. He noted that Hillcrest students engage in Bible training in every class every day, making the point that attending Hillcrest offers a longterm health and social benefit. READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>

Over 480 students gathered for the Tri-College math competition at Concordia in Moorhead last week to gauge the areas top math students. The mathematics departments from Concordia College, NDSU, and MSU-Moorhead organize the regional competition each year, and over the past twelve years Hillcrest has placed a team in the top three positions. The 2018 teams looked to continue the decade of momentum Hillcrest students have built in the classroom. READ THE FULL STORY>>
