Comets Close Season with Battle in Underwood
“We started tough tonight,” reported Coach Dessica Veum of Hillcrest. “Letting Underwood get way ahead of us and they controlled the tempo of that first set. Second set we were able to start much better and we got to play our offense. But then freshman Brenna Tinjum outside hitter for Underwood got going and we couldn't stop her. She was impressive to watch and for a freshman on Varsity to have that much ability to change a game, that's a coach's dream.
We did some switching on our front line tonight in having Senior, Kara Nash move to the right side in sets two and three. She did a nice job of blocking with 3.5 blocks on the night, we were trying to use her strength in defending that net to slow down their outside. Sophomore, Abby Christenson hit middle and did a nice job leading our kills with six. Laura Tungseth contributed five kills.
After coming off of such a great week with two wins, tonight was disappointing for our four seniors to end the season with a tough loss. Underwood is a talented team and they were a class act tonight recognizing our seniors with theirs for their senior night. It was nice to see our two teams coming together for that recognition in our Little Eight Conference, I have a lot of respect for Diane and her program. We now await to see who we will be matched up with in our first playoff game next week.”
