The Comets capped a fantastic week of Basketball with Jake Isaac's game winning put-back versus Park Christian. The two-point bucket, scored as time expired, put the Comets up 54-52 in the non-conference boys basketball contest Saturday, January 10.
Gregg Preston recapped the game, “That was a very thrilling finish as we completed a comeback from a 39-30 deficit to win this game...The last eight minutes I thought that we took good care of the basketball, executed our offense, worked hard on the offensive glass and played our best defense of the night.”
Jake's last second shot closed scoring for the contest, ending his stat line with 19 points, 10 rebounds. The Comets were buoyed by Chris Tungseth (16 points, 8 rebounds) and Micah Jones (12 points, 4 rebounds). Scoring against the state ranked Falcons was hard to come by, but the Comets closed with a respectable 48% (22/46) from the field, and 38% (6/16) from beyond the arc.
Preston commented on the team's approach to game, crediting Evan Malmstrom, Reggie Undseth and Nathan Christenson with good defensive games that led to the win for the Comets. “I thought both teams played extremely hard and it was a great game to watch.”
