Comets Stay in Stride to Pass Ashby
The Comets are in continuing a solid run to the playoffs. Holding Ashby to 10 points in the first half, the Comet defense stifled the Arrows and opened the game, allowing Hillcrest to move to 12 and 2 on the season as they correct weaknesses while viewing the post-season.
The Comets allowed 6 field goals and 8 free throws on the night, completely frustrating the Arrows. They used the game to hone their ball-handling and defensive footwork. They continued their campaign of high percentage shots, making 55% of their looks inside the three-point line.
Coach Preston has been working to develop a rigid reliance on fundamentals for his team. "Our team defense early tonight set a tone that helped us to a fast start...Our development and improvement as a team has been steady since the Christmas break. We took good care of the ball and shot it well tonight."
The Comets will play Hancock next Tuesday as they continue their march through the regular season.
