Seattle Shines in Welcoming Choir
Seattle is showing off for us.
From the time we arrived late Saturday, Seattle has been met with rounds of gasping approval. Locals tell us, after days of straight rain, the sun came out for us, spilling over the mountains, sparkling off the water, and trickling off the rough rock faces along the roadside. We gasped at the house and marina in Bill Gates neighborhood. Students snapped pictures and video and some even called home in their exuberance.
Our host homes continued to be places of pampering and delight. Students were led on tours, treated to ice cream and Real Coffee and just generally spoiled. We enjoyed worshipping with the congregation at Rock of Ages and our choir treated them to a couple of numbers.
In the afternoon, we all enjoyed a Mariner’s game at SafeCo Field, consuming mass quantities of hot dogs and garlic fries. Pastor Brandon introduced some of us to Sweet Chili Lime Criskets.
Following an exciting last inning win, we headed to our hotel that was walking distance from the waterfront. Groups of students and chaperones split up and enjoyed shopping, seafood, Hard Rock Cafe, and a ferris wheel ride overlooking the brightly lit city. Exhausted from walking all the hills of Seattle, we were thrilled to crash in our deluxe rooms that included plush bathrooms and spectacular views.
Today we’ll take a ferry ride with our bus (!) to Bremerton for some exploration and, Dawn hopes, to see whales or porpoises in the Sound.
