Comets Announce Draxten-Clark as Girls' Head Basketball Coach
Athletic Director Craig Nersten is excited to announce a new addition to Hillcrest's athletic department in Hannah Draxten-Clark. Hannah is a former high school standout at Fergus Falls High School who played College Basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes under scholarship.
Hannah will start her high school coaching career at Hillcrest in a program that is in a rebuilding stage. Hannah brings a great deal of expertise, having served as a student-coach for the Hawkeyes following an injury that cut her collegiate season short.
During her playing career in Iowa Hannah was a two-time Academic all-Big Ten selection, earning the team's Coaches Award in her final season. A herniated disc kept Hannah from completing her last two seasons as a Hawkeye, after red-shirting her freshman year..
After receiving a medical exemption, Hannah was able to continue with the Hawkeyes as a student-assistant coach before she graduated with a degree in marketing.
Hannah will also join Hillcrest's Advancement Team, serving as an executive assistant to Hillcrest's new President, Brad Hoganson.
Hannah was raised in a committed Christian family, and has grown in her faith throughout her time as a college athlete. She married Derrick Clark in May, 2014. Hannah and Derrick have one girl, and have recently relocated to Fergus Falls from Waconia, MN.
Hannah has a strong passion to instill good habits in her family's faith formation. "Prayer is one of my favorite things and I could spend hours talking to God. As a family, we spend time praying and discussing the Word at night." Hannah is looking forward to bringing her active faith to Hillcrest's locker room this winter as she leads the Comets.
