Bio:

Many of science’s assumptions truly sound and seem logical and proven. The issue is that much of science, specifically origin science, is based on assumptions. I pray that our students will base their beliefs on the Word and what Christ did for us.

Zach Nersten is a 2012 graduate of Hillcrest Academy and a 2016 graduate of NDSU where he earned a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences Education. Along with teaching, he is currently the head coach for the football and baseball teams.

During Mr. Nersten's six years at Hillcrest, the Lord put friends, mentors, and teachers in his life who demonstrated God's love and character. He knew as he left high school he wanted to become a teacher. While enrolled at NDSU, his love for science (specifically biology) increased through courses like genetics, cell biology, environmental science, and wildlife management & conservation.

Mr. Nersten is delighted to be teaching science at a Christian school like Hillcrest because of the tremendous opportunity he has to teach from a biblical perspective and encourage students to think critically about God's creation.

Mr. Nersten and his wife, Kristin, currently live in the women's residence hall at Hillcrest where Kristin serves as the Lead Dean of Women. They both are die-hard New York Yankees fans; enjoy target shooting, going on family vacations, and eating at the Viking Cafe; and while her husband is away hunting, Kristin loves to read books and drink coffee.
