Lady Comets Unite in Strong Win over Brandon-Evansville

 

Hillcrest saw five players score 9 points or more in a commanding Comets 67-43 win in Evansville Thursday night. Senior Maddie Ballweg directed the Comets with 18 points, going 10-for-10 at the free throw line.

“We moved the ball well on offense which led to good, quality shots,” Head Coach Hannah Clark noted. “I thought Ruby Peterson did a nice job directing our team.  She is the engine on our team and the rest of our girls really follow her direction and energy.” Peterson provided 14 points and added 4 assists in the win.

“It is great to have balanced scoring like we did tonight,” Coach Clark pointed out. “Madison Ballweg led us in scoring but we had multiple girls in double digits.” Seventh-grader Elsa Retzlaff muscled in 11 points while senior Madi Foss Worked in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Joining Foss on the glass, ninth-grader Ella Knutson pulled down 14 boards while chipping in 9 points and 4 assists. with 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Lizzy Olstad provided an important presence on the court, earning 4 points and 5 boards in a full-team effort.

 The game held great moments for the Comets, but Coach Clark noted that the team has some room for big improvement. “We have a few things to clean up on the defensive end, but overall I was pleased with how we played tonight.”

Hillcrest (2-1) will host Ashby on Tuesday night, December 13th, at 7pm.
