Comet Athletics
Hillcrest Lutheran Academy’s athletics are built on putting Christian principles into action. Our highest priority is to build strong moral values, character, academics, and service into our athletes.
We are dedicated to providing each athlete with the fundamental, mental, and physical development training to help them reach their highest possible potential as an athlete.

How to Participate
If a student has not played a sport in the current school year, the Athletic Participation Form and state required documents must be completed and returned to the Athletics Office.
If a student has already participated in a Hillcrest sport in the current school year, their only requirement for participation on the first day of practice is their Athletic Participation Form and fee.
Athletic eligibility is governed by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) rules. Detailed eligibility information can be found in the MSHSL Athletic Eligibility Brochure.

The Hillcrest Athletic Philosophy
That the world would see Christ in us as we compete
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light shine before men so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
That our athletes perceive a godly concept of success
While winning the contest is the object of planning and preparation on the part of both coach and athlete, it must not be the sole measure of success. Exemplifying core Christian values, which are being built into the athlete, must be the ultimate criteria for whether we are truly successful.
Drilling for skill daily
Our programs structure their training systems around the basic fundamental skills of the sport. The fundamentals that hold our entire development system together take many hours of practice and review throughout the course of a season. Stressing the fundamentals also aids in developing our team’s discipline and confidence. Constantly working on fundamentals ensures opportunities for our players to improve their skills and achieve their sports goals. This approach does not promise championships or medals, but it promises improvement and growth in all our athletes.
