Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all!

Lower School

Grades K-5

Your child's education may very well be one of the biggest decisions you have had to make as a parent. Our goal is to provide a joyful and interactive environment that balances high academic standards with Christian character formation, inspiring students to learn and grow to their full potential. Students are encouraged to grow and explore the world through a classical curriculum designed to expand their horizons and inspire a passion for learning.

Young children have a strong sense of memorization. Consequently, memorizing in each of the academic disciplines is emphasized: math (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication); language (letters, grammar rules, vocabulary, Latin); history (names, dates, places), etc.

Teaching methods in the Lower School include hands-on work and projects, integration of various subjects, recitations, memorization, and field trips. Students at this age learn to chant songs and absorb information well. Hillcrest students are guided to see what is good, true, and beautiful in their learning and everyday life.

Classical Christian education makes students well-rounded and life-long learners in an ever-changing world.
