Planning for the Future, Treasuring the Past

We invite you to partner with us on the Generations Capital Campaign!

With a goal of raising ten million dollars over the course of five years, this is the largest capital campaign Hillcrest has ever embarked on. We truly believe that what we will accomplish together through this campaign will lead our school into the next chapter of Hillcrest’s story. We know God is on the move at Hillcrest. We have seen the work of His hands right before our eyes.

This campaign is so much more than bricks and mortar. The buildings serve only to house the places of spiritual growth, to enhance academic excellence, and to continue shaping hearts and minds for generations to come.

OVERVIEW OF NEEDS & UPDATES

HILLCREST FUND - $2,500,000

The Hillcrest Fund helps support the school’s annual operational budget. Gifts given by alumni and friends of Hillcrest assist in keeping tuition rates low by subsidizing teacher's salaries, providing for educational resources, and helping to cover the cost of facility expenses. We have raised $640,000 towards the Hillcrest Fund to date.

LOWER SCHOOL BUILDING - $3,000,000

The newly renovated Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Lower School on East Channing Avenue in Fergus Falls is now full of young Comets, students ranging in age from Preschool to Grade 5. The halls, classrooms and playground are alive with the vibrant voices of the students playing with old friends and making new ones. Needs: Donations to continue to make payments for purchasing the property.

CASTLE ROOF/HVAC - $2,000,000

The roof of the Castle and the iconic steeple have been renovated and look great. The new shake-style shingles are durable and will maintain the classic look of the Castle for many years to come. This monumental project took the better part of two summers, but it was well worth it.  This is the first time in decades that the cupolas, spires, steeple and steeple railing have been returned to their original iconic look. Needs: Donations to cover the final cost of the roofing materials and labor.

RESIDENCE HALL RENOVATIONS - $500,000

A generous donor gave so that the boys’ residence hall could receive much needed updates and renovations to the bathroom/shower area and to the kitchenette space. These areas are heavily used by the boys who live in the residence halls and the renovations have modernized and freshened these spaces. Needs: Donations for renovation of girls’  residence hall. Donations to continue renovation of the the boys’ second floor bathrooms and showers. New or nearly new sofas or chairs for the lounge areas, new or in good repair dorm room study desks, and a grill.

DEBT REDUCTION - $1,000,000

Over the years our operations funding has accrued a debt of approximately one million dollars. We seek to move forward without debt in order to serve future generations of students with confidence.

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS - $1,000,000

Students who attend Hillcrest typically come from families of moderate means. We feel called to make the Hillcrest education and experience accessible to as many families as possible. In order to match rising costs in education, Hillcrest is seeking to enlarge our endowed scholarships.

Why Do You Give?

"I want to be a funnel for the Power of God. I had the benefit of attending a Christian school in St. Paul, MN and my experience at the Christian school created a foundation for who I would become as a man after I graduated. I always wanted to honor God with my life and what He gave me. It was by His direction that we decided to give to Hillcrest.
