Hillcrest Academy Opens the Door to College Credit Before Graduation

A junior glances up from her chemistry lab and realizes the credit she’s earning today will appear on her future university transcript tomorrow. Hillcrest Lutheran Academy’s new College Credit Track makes that moment possible.

Launching this fall as the first stride in Hillcrest's program expansion, Hillcrest's College Credit Track lets qualified juniors and seniors earn regionally accredited college credits without stepping off Hillcrest’s campus.

Through an inaugural partnership with the University of Northwestern–St. Paul, students who hold a 2.75 GPA or higher can enroll in college-level courses taught right in their Hillcrest classrooms by Hillcrest faculty approved as university adjuncts. Each class satisfies both high‑school and university requirements, and thanks to Minnesota’s concurrent‑enrollment guidelines, it carries no extra tuition for in‑state families.

“We see the College Credit Track as an on‑ramp to calling,” says President Luke Fiskness. “Students launch their college journey early, yet remain rooted in biblical truth and surrounded by mentors who know and love them. Because the courses are delivered in a non‑sectarian format, they equip teens for a wide range of majors and worldviews; while our community keeps Christ at the center.”

Academic rigor meets relational depth: classroom discussions stretch students’ intellects, and everyday interactions shape their character. “We’re not trying to rush teenagers through high school,” Fiskness adds. “We’re walking with them, cultivating wisdom for whatever comes next: university study, the workforce, or ministry. College Credit Track strengthens both transcript and testimony.”

Hillcrest’s vision doesn’t stop here. Administrators are already in talks with additional universities nationwide, aiming to broaden dual‑credit offerings and place more Hillcrest teachers on college and university rosters. Each new partnership will contribute to the larger forthcoming Hillcrest Leadership Institute, a multi-year initiative that combines advanced academics, intentional discipleship, and real-world leadership labs, enabling graduates to leave ready to think deeply, serve boldly, and lead with integrity.
